How and when did you get started training for a healthy and active body lifestyle?
I’ve always been interested in health and fitness but I really got serious about my training just over 2 years ago when I trained for the Sandra Wickham Fall Classic and competed in Bikini.
Do you have goal setting techniques? Short term and long term goals?
I do a lot of visualization. I get a clear vision in my mind of what I want to accomplish and how I want to look and feel, and then I focus on that while I’m training.
Are there any mindset techniques you employ before shooting a scene for a movie/commercial? If yes, do they transfer to any other areas of your life such as training?
I really try to let everything go and be calm. The calmer I am, the more free I am and the more energy I have available. It’s the same for training.
How do you remain motivated? Any tips for anyone wanting to get in great shape and/or thinking about competing in your sport?
When I’m training and eating right, I feel great, which motivates me. When I take time off or eat unhealthy, I feel sluggish and am not happy.
For anyone wanting to get in great shape I would say get a good coach. There is so much bad information out there and it’s easy to run in circles. Find someone you click with and let them guide you, it’s so worth it!
How do you keep track of your progress?
I stay off the scale! Go by pictures and how your clothes fit. How you feel. It’s the only way to tell. Even the mirror can lie to you.
What types of cardio have worked best for you?
I like the Stepper and Step-mill. I actually really enjoy doing those two, I put some music on and get in a rhythm, the time flies by. They are also great for your butt!
What’s your favorite healthy recipe?
1 cup egg whites, 1/2 scoop protein powder, 1/2 tsp xanthan gum, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1 tbsp vanilla extract, 1 tbsp cocoa powder, couple packs of stevia.
-Put it in a blender, mix it up. Pour in muffin tins
-Bake at 400 for 8 min
What does your diet consist of?
Chicken, egg whites, fish, beef, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, rice, veggies, fruit
What do you do to deal with cravings for salty foods, sweets, and junk foods?
I have a huge sweet tooth, so I’ll eat some protein brownies if I’m really craving something. If I’m not close to a show, I’ll have a treat meal every week and eat whatever I want.
What are your top 3 exercises?
Deadlifts, squats, shoulder press
Do you listen to music while you train? If yes what type(s)?
Yes. Always when doing cardio. I listen to all different types, I usually get hooked on an artist and play them over and over until I’m sick of them. Currently I’m obsessed with Eminem.
In terms of your training schedule, how many days a week do you train and what would be a typical training regimen for you?
5x week with weights. I do legs 2x week. Every other body part I train them once a week.
Do you have any role models or athletes you look up too?
So many! I love Juliana Malacarne’s physique, I’m so glad she just won the Olympia.
What do you enjoy the most about the competitions you participate in?
I love the challenge of pushing myself to be better every time around. I love watching my body change. I love training with heavy weights! I love cardio. I love being on stage and getting all dolled up. I love how sparkly the suits and jewelry are!
What supplements do you take?
What tips would you give to anyone wanting to have an active body physique like yours?
Train hard. Don’t miss a meal. Keep pushing forward. Don’t give up!
